Privacy Policy
Good to flag now rather than after launch — Meta ads change your data picture a bit (Pixel tracking, ad targeting, possibly Conversions API), so here's the updated Privacy Policy with that built in.
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CleanSlate Tech Ltd ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit or shop with us at [cleanslatetech.co.uk]. We're committed to handling your data responsibly and in line with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who We Are
We are CleanSlate Tech Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17264964, with our registered office at c/o Optimum Digits Ltd, Sunderland Road, Market Deeping, Peterborough, PE6 8FD.
For any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at info@cleanslatetech.co.uk.
2. What Information We Collect
We collect information in a few different ways:
Information you give us directly:
- Name, delivery and billing address, email address, and phone number, when you place an order.
- Payment details, processed securely through our payment provider (we do not store your full card details ourselves).
- Any information you send us directly, such as emails or messages about an order, warranty claim, or return.
- Your email address if you sign up to our newsletter or marketing emails.
Information collected automatically:
- Technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and device information, collected when you browse our site.
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies, used to help our site function properly, understand how it's used, and support our advertising (see Section 9 below).
Information from third parties:
- If you leave us a review via Trustpilot or another platform, we may see your name and review content as part of that public review.
- If you interact with our Meta (Facebook/Instagram) adverts, Meta may share limited information with us about ad performance, as described in Section 9.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- Process and fulfil your orders, including arranging delivery and handling payments.
- Communicate with you about your order, including confirmations, tracking updates, and any issues.
- Handle warranty claims, returns, and customer service queries.
- Send you marketing emails, but only if you've opted in, and always with the option to unsubscribe at any time.
- Show you relevant adverts on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, and measure how effective those adverts are.
- Improve our website and services, based on how customers use our site.
- Prevent fraud and keep our website and business secure.
- Meet our legal obligations, such as tax and accounting records.
4. Our Legal Basis for Processing
Under UK data protection law, we rely on the following legal bases to use your information:
- Contract — to process your order, take payment, and arrange delivery.
- Legitimate interests — to improve our services, prevent fraud, and run our business effectively, in ways that don't override your rights.
- Consent — for marketing emails, and for non-essential cookies used for advertising (such as the Meta Pixel), which you can withdraw or manage at any time.
- Legal obligation — for example, keeping financial records as required by law.
5. Who We Share Your Information With
We don't sell your personal information. We do share it with trusted third parties who help us run our business, including:
- Shopify, our ecommerce platform, which hosts our store and processes orders.
- Payment processors, to securely handle transactions.
- Courier and delivery companies, to deliver your order and provide tracking.
- Email marketing platforms, if you've opted in to receive marketing from us.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram), to run and measure our advertising, using tools such as the Meta Pixel and, where used, Meta's Conversions API. This may involve sharing limited data such as your IP address, browsing activity on our site, or a hashed (encrypted) version of your email address, used to match ad performance and show relevant adverts. You can control how Meta uses your data for ads through your own Facebook/Instagram ad preferences settings.
- Trustpilot, if we invite you to leave a review (you can always decline).
We only share what's necessary for these providers to do their job, and we expect them to keep your data secure and use it only for the purpose we've provided it for.
We may also share information where required by law, such as with HMRC, law enforcement, or regulators.
6. International Transfers
Some of the third parties we use (such as Shopify and Meta) may store or process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect your information to UK data protection standards.
7. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including:
- Order and transaction records, kept for as long as required by UK tax and accounting law (currently 6 years).
- Warranty-related information, kept for the duration of your warranty period, plus a reasonable period afterward in case of a dispute.
- Marketing email addresses, kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Advertising cookie data, retained according to Meta's own data retention policies, which you can review on Meta's website.
8. Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your information, in certain circumstances.
- Restrict or object to certain types of processing, including advertising.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent (such as marketing emails or advertising cookies).
- Data portability, to receive your data in a portable format where applicable.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@cleanslatetech.co.uk. We'll respond within one month, as required by law.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, if you believe we haven't handled your data properly. You can find out more at ico.org.uk.
9. Cookies & Advertising
Our website uses cookies to help it function properly, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use our site, and support our advertising on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
This includes the Meta Pixel, a tool that helps us understand how visitors interact with our site after clicking one of our adverts, and allows us to show more relevant ads and measure their performance. Meta may also use this information to build audiences for future advertising, in line with Meta's own privacy policy.
You can manage or withdraw your cookie consent at any time via the Cookie preferences link in our website footer. You can also control how Meta personalises adverts to you directly through your Facebook or Instagram account's ad settings.
10. Keeping Your Information Secure
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. This includes using secure, reputable platforms (such as Shopify and Meta) to handle payments, advertising, and data.
11. Children's Privacy
Our website and products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or how we operate. The version in place at the time you use our site or place an order is the one that applies.
